Today we bring you another short episode in our 9 part series of parkour on common obstacles for beginners. For todays episode we are down town at tempe beach park with Coaches Francesco Caban, and Kristoffer Smith as they give some tips and examples of combos or flow as it’s called in the PK universe.

Often many skills that are basic like the step vault can be made a little more interesting by simply doing the skill on a variety of objects. By changing where the foot steps, from on the vaulting surface to on the adjacent wall, you can add a little complexity and style to a run

Another great thing to think about when moving from one skill to another is taking up more distance with steps. More often then not taking extra steps in a run will waste time, energy, and disrupt the flow of a run.

sometime parkour is about getting from point A to B, but that doesn’t always make for a very interesting line. Redirect type movements are a way to make turning around faster and more interesting. In this combo coach Franceso demonstrates this concept by doing a kong in, and pulling the legs back out to change direction.

This next combo is super simple and can be done on a wide range of objects including boxes, walls, and rails. It consists of getting to a supported position on the object, turning a full 360º and pushing back to return. for this combo Coach Kristoffer is jumping from a curb to the wall, however the same movement can be done without the addition of the stride off the curb.

before attempting this move be sure to have a well practiced shoulder roll on solid ground. When running through a course sometimes on obstacle is just too long to vault over. When this happens a roll can be a faster more efficient way to get over on obstacle
It is also possible to use cartwheels to add some style to ground movement while remove extra steps between areas.
when the cartwheel just isn’t enough the helicóptero can give some extra flair before transitioning into a vault/mount. this move is similar to the cartwheel with the addition of another half turn before the legs come back down to the ground
